1989 B2600i Frankentruck Flatbed Build
Back story is I found an 89 B2600i 4wd standard cab behind my neighbors barn. Cab floors rusted out, bed rusted out and not running...I picked it up for $300 because it has a low mile rebuilt engine. Under $200 for a fuel pump motor, slave cylinder and oil change and it was running and driving. Complete low mileage donor 1991 2wd (minus engine/trans) was another $300. I ended up going all in on this truck:
Completely tore it down to the frame and cleaned up the rust
Cab swap with a 1991 extra cab (had to relocate rear cab mounts)
Steel flatbed/headache rack
Trimmed frame back to shackle mounts
Cleaned up painted engine
Wrapped header (Australia)
Electric fan conversion (Nissan)
High flow catalytic converter
135amp alternator upgrade (Ford Mustang)
3" body lift
2" Ironman suspension lift (Australia)
1" Front control arm spacers (Russia)
31x10.5 ATs on alloys
It's still a work in progress, planning on fabricating a cold air intake and swapping in a bored throttle body from a later model that has a single butterfly.
Day I found it, after my neighbor pulled it over with his tractor and I pressure washed it..
Torn down to frame.
Engine cleaned up and wrapped header installed.
Rear cab mounts relocated with 3" spacer.
135 amp Ford Mustang alternator installed
As she sits, view of mostly finished flatbed.
With 3" body lift, 2" Ironman suspension lift and 1" control arm spacers installed.
