1990 b2200 auto spewing cold fluid overheating
the title describes it all. I have yet to go feel the hoses but I figure maby my thermostate is stuck closed creating backpressure ?? have some beer in me but thats what i can make of it.
what happens is on the highway motoring up back home It gets right hot on the dial. and I noticed my overflow tank filling up so i touched it and its cold fluid. so i baby it and drive some more. and then at the store its dripping out cold fluid out of the overflow tank. what the hell would cause my engine to run super hot and yet blow out cold fluid out of the overflow tank.
My radiator cap does seem to be old and worn and I should replace it. I say this becuase all matters could effect the problem. But I am at a little bit of a loss. Cold fluid out the overflow...

Sounds like a bad radiator cap, opening up at too low a pressure. If the thermostat was stuck closed, building up heat and pressure, then the coolant coming out the reservoir would be real hot. So I think after you lose a certain amount of coolant from the radiator, then your gauge indicates higher temperature.
