MeB2000, thanks legend. I've had the same problem for years and two mechanical workshops could not fix it. I read your post and it took me straight to a broken wire off that clutch switch. 15 mins later and the problem is solved. Thanks again.
Mine is 2004 Mazda B2600. And thanks RJV for your efforts too. Right now I am one happy camper. Beer O'clock!

Awesome GraClay! I'm glad you got this fixed finally! Now, to give credit where credit is due.......a good friend of mine (we first met up because of our common interests in these Mazda trucks, on the now defunct Mazdatrucking.com forum, years ago.....Scotch!) was actually the person that dove into the electrical diagrams and figured this common problem out! I just spoke with him yesterday as a matter of fact. I had a truck that was having issues and he told me about the Clutch Switch, so I took it apart and found the broken spring, and then proceeded to take some pictures so others could see and learn from it.
So Scotch, from the old Mazdatrucking site deserves all of the credit for bringing this problem to light for all of us! Thanks Scotch! BTW.....he still lurks around on these Mazda sites from time to time!

Interesting about your ECI clutch pedal switch. Last October, I diagnosed intermittent high resistance in the clutch pedal starter interlock switch on my 1988 B2200, a different switch
I took the switch apart, and nothing was broken, but I cleaned it out with a Q-Tip and it's worked fine for 6 months so far. See the excess grease on the copper contacts on the left?

I need to do this on my 1989 B2200 Red Regular Cab truck......the starter seems to turn slowly every now & then.......but when I release the clutch pedal and depress it again, the starter spins as it should then. So I'm pretty sure it is a "contact issue" with the starter inhibit switch. It could be as simple as the original grease is just burnt from the small "arcing" over the many times it has been used. Kinda like the ignition switches!

I think I needed to glue the housing together after fixing it....brand new is about $75....
