1991 Mazda B2600i starts, idles, bogs down sputters while reving
Hello folks,
I wonder if someone encountered the same conditions I am going through with my 1991 Mazda B2600i truck 2WD 4 cylinders / Automatic transmission
- Engine hard to start however if I count to 10 and I crank it will start and idles with no problem
- once engine warms up it fires up from the first try.
- If I press gas sometimes revs ok and other times it bogs down and sputters (no power)
- It idles ok and dies in either D or R
- engine light is ON. engine light flashes 89 ( 8 times followed with 9 times)
Parts that have been replaced:
- spark plugs, spark plug wire set, coolant temp sensor, throttle position sensor, Denso fuel pump with new filter, new inline fuel filter, new injectors, new fuel pressure regulator, new PCM, new walker oxygen sensor
Notes:
fuel pressure is steady 40 psi, smoke test has been done with no vacuum leaks, exhaust line back pressure ZERO (None), catalytic converter is NOT clogged, MAF sensor has been cleaned. timing is up to spec cylinder # 1 on TDC along with the mark on balancer pulley. cap and rotor look OK. fuel pump dampener checks ok.
Please let me know if I miss something

More than likely, your board inside the ECU is corroded from the acid that leaks out of the 2 original capacitors. The acid leaks onto the board, and etches/corrodes the circuit board and it affects the fuel injection circuits. This is a known issue with the original ECU's with the original two capacitors.....one is Black and the other is Red......in these photos, the Black Capacitor leaked and caused the corrosion......it was soldered into the space where the white circle spot is on the circuit board......
