1992 B2200 manual transmission fluid/oil?
I’ve seen some contradictory stories about which fluid to put in our 5spd manual transmissions. Right now I’m running synthetic manual transmission oil with about a quart of royal purple syncromax. I get minor gear mesh issues going from 1st to 2nd. Little crunchy, like the syncros aren’t super happy only in the first 3-4 times going from 1st to 2nd quickly after warmup. When I drained the oem fluid it was clear (not red) so I did not add ATF to the trans because I’ve never added it to a manual, ever. Any input? I have a spare trans but would rather use the correct fluid to begin with.

I use 80W-90 gear oil in my 1988 B2200 gearbox and differential, 216K on it now. I use the little pump that screws onto the top of the gear oil containers. I made a little loop from a short piece of copper tubing to insert into the plastic hose of that, keeps the tube in place in the side of the transmission while I pump the gear oil in.
And keep the gear oil containers inside or in the sun to warm it, will pump easier.
