Default 1993 Mazda b2600i fuel problem

G'day, i have spent an hour or so reading about fuel issues in b2600's but i can't find references to my problem
Mine is a firefighting unit at out place in Perth, Western Australia (where we are about to head into another bush fire season)
I went to start the old girl , will turn over all day but won't fire.

I put 10 litres of fuel into it
I cannot hear a fuel pump running when i turn on the ignition, should i be able to?
I took the pipe off the fuel filter and cranked the engine, nothing came out
I checked the fuse that the manual says is for the fuel pump (not labelled that or rated at 10amps like the manual said....)
I checked all the other fuses in the dash fuse box, they are all good

Read some stuff about regulators and stuff but wanted some advice from you guys on what to check next

Thanks in advance

Check for power & earth at the pump when turning the key on.

I would expect that your could hear the pump, especially while underneath the truck (or at least feel some vibration while under there). Some tap on the fuel tank with a rubber mallet to see if that gets anything going.

I agree with this. On my 1988 B2200 (mechanical fuel pump on the engine) I was able to tilt the truck bed for access to the top of the fuel tank to get to the sending unit (see PDF attachment).

Since western Australia is dry, I doubt that you'd have a lot of rust in the fuel tank blocking the fuel "sock".

Wow, there is so much knowledge in this group! That PDF is golden!

Definitely no noise from the pump, i have checked the multiplug that goes into the top of the tank and and nothing is live....

I'm hoping this might not be too much of a drama but where does the supply come from?

Thanks Cusser, really useful

i found an old immobiliser badly fitted so i have removed that and put the wiring back to factory to eliminate that.

With the ignition on there is a supply to the yellow 'circuit opening' relay but no sound when the ignition is switched on, there is a click when you go to start the car

The black and red cable out of the relay that runs to the fuel pump does not become live at any time, i even tried to bridge it to the supply but still no fuel pump noise

Bit stumped now!

You know what to do next: figure out WHY positive voltage is not getting to the fuel pump.

As a test of the pump itself, you could jump the fuel pump directly to the battery positive using a jumper wire with an inline fuse or circuit breaker.

Had to walk away from it for a while but summer is heating up so i need to get this fire truck fixed!!!

I found the earths at the junction box to be no good so i sorted that.
The is no supply at the same junction box for the pump with the ignition on and the starter relay does not click until you actually turn the key to start the engine
All the fuses are good.
I put a supply straight to the pump terminal and nothing....

So, the tank is out, the pump and sender are out (every single screw securing the access broke off while being removed so that was a heap of work with drilling out and re tapping) a new pump is on its way....

Lets stay hopeful!

Its sorted!
Bad pump and a bad earth, running beautifully again now!

Thanks for all your help, back onto the Mazda / Perkins engine in my 70's Ford Transit now!
