Hi Guys, posting here hoping someone may be able to help out before I look at going down the pricey route of the dealership. I’ve recently picked up a 2017 BT-50 Freestyle cab 4x4. I’ve got a genuine original Mazda key for it which the remote unlock button works but the lock doesn’t. Thinking it was a key issue I went out and got a 2nd one cut from a 3rd party key cutter and programmed it to the car. Same deal, will unlock but not lock the car remotely.

Central locking is all functional. If I insert the key and lock it works, as well as if I hit the door lock button inside the vehicle.

It’s got me completely stumped but if anyone has any advice on potential fixes that’d be awesome.

 

Can you hear the lock actuator moving inside the door(s) when you push the unlock remote button? If so, it may be just a physical linkage connection inside the driver's door. If not, maybe a Body Control Module (interior computer) issue?

 

Find a mobile automotive locksmith and get an aftermarket key cut & programmed.

 

I believe he said he already did that.
