My 89 B2200 runs like a bat when it's100 degrees out, but when the weather turns cold again this fall, it'll lose power in direction relation to the amount of chill in the air. At 35 it'll be a slug! It's got a new motor (15,000 ago), new radiator, new exhaust. It starts fine, idles fine, runs fine. It's kind'a like them stupid windows, when it's hot out, they roll down just fine but when it gets cold, it takes all that the plastic crank handles can stand just to roll 'um down 3/4 of the way. Doesn't it get cold in Japan? Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Could that cat converter just not be getting hot enough in the cold weather to operate right? I've looked at it and it's clear of any junk inside. Any clues?

Is it possible your thermostat is stuck open, or that you're running without a thermostat? Does your engine temperature get to operating range in 10 minutes when it's cold?

You might be on to something, as it did run real hot after I replaced the motor last fall, so I replaced the radiator and the temp dropped way off. I did give it a new stat, but the temp doesn't really get up there where it should now that you mention it. Thankx for joggin my memory!

Make sure the thermostat is facing correct way, with bigger side (with spring, holder) inside the engine cavity. And with the little movable "pin" up. It's easier to do this if you jack up the passenger side.
