89 mazda b2200 dashlights dim at low rpm
the dash lights as well as the headlights dim when the truck's rpm's lower but when i rev up the engine they get a little bit brighter. i dont know whats going on the battery holds a charge and the truck runs good but i cant hardly see my gauges in the dark with the lighting being so dim. also where is the o2 sensor located its carberated.
one other problem i got the truck for free and the stereo wiring is all chopped they removed the small tray under the ac/heater controls and somehow rerouted the wires but when i installed a new stereo i had to run a wire from the battery for constant 12v and i havent found a good switched 12v source.. is the cigg lighter a switched source? thanks in advance !

Also, Alternators provide more charging with higher engine rpm's. Quite possible with the extra stuff added (or drains on the system) could be exceeding the capability of your alternator to keep up with the power draw at idle.

sounds like the battery is cooked my friend. but to be sure head over to a shop and have them load test the system. no point replacing parts till u know for sure

if its cooked then the cells inside of the battery arent able to both hold a charge or put one out, which in time can start to overload the alternator and wear it out alot faster too. they kind of rely on each other working right to run properly. alot of the time you dont know you have a bad battery till the alternator quits.
also something as simple as the belt being loose could simply not be spinning the alternator fast enough. but i would still head into a shop and have them load test the whole system. its worth the money to test things out rather then just throwing parts at it hoping it solves the problem.
