91 b2200 overheating....ughh!!!
ok...i have a 91 b2200 that keeps overheating on me. i bought the truck for 500 and the person told me it overheats from time to time. when i flushed the coolant out, i noticed that there was no thermostat in it!! so i replaced the thermostat and put new coolant in it.
now it ran good for a week after that, then one morning it started overheating after about 10 minutes of driving it. i opened the hood and coolant started leaking out the bottom. i found out that it was a hose that was blown, so i replaced it and put more coolant in. i started it up and let it run for about 20 minutes and it seemed fine. then i got in and drove it. it slowly was getting hotter and hotter.
so now im kind of stuck on what to do....i called the previous owner to see what work had been done to it and she said that the head gaskets had been recently replaced andthe head had been worked on. i also didnt notice any kind of leak coming from the radiator.
someone please help!!!!!! i wanna drive my truck!!!!!!

also, when we put coolant back in it after i fixed the blown hose, it kinda spit the coolant back out and the truck wasnt even really warm yet...
when the truck starts up when cold, it will smoke white for about 10 minutes....and if i give it sum throttle while its smokin, warming up, the smoke seems to turn black for a second then back to white...

Yes, the only place the coolant system can get that much pressure to push water like that is either from a blown head gasket or a crack in a water jacket or cylinder, I've never seen the later of the 3 in a B2200 unless some idiot threw a rod. Fixing the cylinder head should solve you're overheating and burning coolant problem. Like said the head is probably warped and/or whoever fixed it botched it. If they where not smart enough to check to make sure it was straight then they shouldn't be working on cars. Also since it is an overhead cam you can't just have it shaved if it is too badly warped since the cam bearing surfaces will be out of alignment as well. It will need to be straightened first and then shaved a few thousanths to do the job right.
B2200 Cylinder Head Specs
Also blast the bugs out of the radiator by spraying it with cleaner and spraying it with a hose from the back side.
