92 b2600i 4x4 fuel gauge problem
I've had my truck since '93 and don't ever remember the fuel gauge ever going all the way to the top. It goes up maybe 7/8ths. I get more mileage from the lower half of the gauge than the top. I haven't wanted to take it to a mechanic for fear of spending too much. Is there something I can do? Also, I just read that the gas tank is 14.8 gallons but I've never put in more than 12.4 gallons. I ran out some years ago but don't remember putiing in that much gas. Is there a discrepency? Appreciate any feedback.

I have a 91 that does the same thing. When you put gas in it, it takes several min for the gauge to move up and when it does it never quite makes it to the full mark. Mine also reads empty at about 10 or 11 gallons out, I have never put more that 12 in it. I guess it is just one of those things.

Mine is like yours, Oscar - - - takes a long time to go up, never gets all the way to the top, and then goes down FAST. At $3.65 per gallon and only getting 12 or 13 mpg it seems to go down REALLY FAST. I guess with the extra weight of the 4wd and with the automatic transmission that's what I can expect.

RE: 92 b2600i 4x4 fuel gauge problem
i have a '91 b2600i and i too can only full up 10 gallons, 11 max. it is a cab plus with the 14.8 gallon tank. the gauge responds to fillup really slowly i get about 17 miles to the gallon which is 170 miles "to the tank". except i've got about 4.8 gallons of gas i'm apparently leaving in the tank. i'm think bad sending unit. it's an all-in-one filter, sending unit, pick-up type deal, i believe.
