B2500 Biodiesel compatible or not?
Dear experts,
I have a 2003 Mazda B2500 2.5litre diesel engine 4X4.
Its a European model, in that I am in Ireland and not the USA model.
Can my jeep run on bio-diesel or straight vegetable oil (SVO)?
bio-diesel garages/filling stations are starting to become more prevalent here in Ireland and I am thinking of using bio-diesel rather than the ordinary diesel.
Also, I was thinking of either making my own bio-diesel or using SVO.
my plan was to have keep my existing diesel tank for use on cold days and/or use until engine has warmed up. then from another tank in the back of the pick up switch via a electric switch etc to turn on the bio-diesel or SVO.
Can anyone tell me more about my B2500 and its ability to run without harm on different fuels.
kind regards,
Will.

RE: B2500 Biodiesel compatible or not?
Hi Will, and welcome to our (and now your) forum.
I don't know if they would come that way from the factory.I kinda' doubt it myself, but I have seen conversion kits availablefor running SVO used on Jeeps and even Japanese trucks (an Isuzu to be specific) on a television show we have here in the States. I believe they had to start the truck on regular diesel, but were then able to switch over to the SVO after and let it run that way. So the vehicle actuallyrequired 2 separate fuel tanks.
Perhaps that's what you need to look for? You might research the diesel site on the web. Ask a few questions or perhaps all your questions (FAQ's) could be answered w/o asking.
I think it could be done w/o too much trouble, but wouldn't try it on a stock truck. You could be in for a major clean up just to get the truck to start again.
Research, Research, Research. That's your answer.
