Current and next generation Mazda Pickup truck - Will Mazda ever build one?
Hi all,
I currently have a 2015 Mazda 6 that I love. I love the Mazda "small (under rated guy) but with a big technical and performance punch" mentality. I would love to own a truck in the future. I would like it to be a Mazda truck. I checked Mazda's website and Mazda does not currently sell pickup trucks.
Anyone know the reason for this?
Do you think Mazda will make a fuel efficient truck (possibly a hybrid or all electric) in the future?

Mazda does not sell trucks in the US. It does sell them in other countries. Google BT-50 to see what others can get.
I owned a Mazda B2000 in the 80s and loved it. It was much smaller than any truck available now. More then enough for most truck buyers, in my opinion.
I believe the issue is the level of import tax makes it unprofitable to import trucks into the US. That, combined with the fact that Americans prefer much larger trucks than the BT-50 making it unprofitable to manufacture that truck in the US.
Believe it it or not, the tax on light trucks is called the Chicken Tax. Another thing worth googling.
