Factory radio/cassette deck
Might be a long shot but I’m searching for the factory radio/cassette deck for my 1987 B2200. I have seen units like this on google, looks to be period correct. Both of the units pictured also came up in RX7’s, are factory radios interchangeable between certain years of RX7’s to the B series trucks? I currently have a factory am/fm and want a cassette deck, thanks!

You must be related to Cusser! LOL.......just joking.....we have ribbed him for years about his cassette tape fetish. I am not sure if the two will interchange, but I would tend to think they may. The actual units could be the same, but the attached factory mounting brackets might be vehicle specific. I have one of these complete units with the equalizer somewhere in all of my parts......I will see if I can find it tomorrow. If I do I will take some pics and post them here.

I thought I had one in the basement. I pulled it out when new and put in a Pioneer unit. Apparently I swapped them when I sold the B2000 in 1994. The Pioneer unit is still here waiting for the right vehicle to use it in.
It clearly is time to clean the basement.
Anybody need chains for a 1956 Ford (police car) or Seatbelts for a car before they were standard?

I think some of the stereos used in the B-trucks were the Clarion brand. And a vintage AM-FM-Cassette stereo will fit in the B-truck console fine (look around for an "install" kit). I currently run a Sanyo AM-FM-CD-cassette unit (FX-CD 1100) in my '88 B2200, for maybe a decade now, bought brand new. Check Ebay periodically.

What kind of Cassette is that Cusser? Can you "watch" it? LOL.
Here is a good read on the history of the 'Compact Cassette'.......just for you guys that still love 'em!
Vintage Cassettes
BTW, I still have quite a few of them myself. I used to make my own cassettes from my vinyl albums in the mid-eighties.......my favorite brand was the Maxell UDXLII 90 minute cassette!

I have two of these (1977 models); the second was my very first Ebay purchase for 99 cents ($10 shipping), needed a new drive belt. In the meantime I fixed my original one purchased in 1977, had a speck of dust in the MIC/LINE switch which I'd never pushed, caused occasional dropouts on one channel when recording. The advantage of cassetes was that they used flangeless reels so the tape would move to now-vacant space on the take-up reel, and folks did not have to "thread" tapes like on an open-reel player. Also, the stereo tracks were next to each other, so solved the cross-talk issue.
I NEVER had 8-track.
