Default Fair value for 1992 Mazda B2200

I have a 1992 Mazda B2200 Truck with just under 37,000 miles that I got from my Dad's estate about 4 years ago. The body is pretty amazing for a 1992 - and the interior (with one small repair done to the seat) is great as well. Otherwise it's a base truck (it has a radio and a step bumper and a cap - but no other options) with 2WD.

It's come time to sell it and I'm struggling with what a fair price is. I've been getting offers from $1,500 (too low) to $3,200 (they backed out the next day) - and it's difficult to find any historical sales for a truck that old in that condition. Anyone have any experience they can share with regards to pricing?

Here's a pic for reference: https://imgur.com/MBcFiUO

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Mike

There is a limited market for a great truck like yours. Finding someone quickly locally would result in a price like the $1,500 low price. You need to find the right buyer to get a decent price.

I recommend you list it on Bring A Trailer. If you post good pictures, tell the story of your dad and his truck, and actively respond to the questions from potential bidders I would bet you would get around $6,000. It takes a week or so but it could be a lot of fun. I would buy it if I could convince my wife that we needed it.

Thanks for the response.

I agree with you with regards to finding the right person for a truck like this - rolling it out to the end of the drive and hanging a sign on it will not get me the best price. Initially I was hoping to get something near what I paid for it off the estate ($4,500) but frankly had no idea what it's really worth. In the end I decided to take less in order to make a quick/painless sale.

I may need to reconsider - thanks for the suggestion - I'll take a look at the Bring a Trailer site.

I think $6,000 may be a bit adventurous but Thanks for the suggestion - I'll take a look at the site.

A 91 2wd B2200 LE-5 with 97,000 miles sold for 7,100 on 7/1/19
A 97 2wd Nissan with 69,000 miles sold for 6,300 on 6/11/19
Toyota and 4wd sell for more but I would bet a low miles Mazda with a good story will do well.

The bidders on BaT prefer manual transmissions, a good story and clean/damage free vehicles.

I will post the first bid of $1,500.

Maybe I should hire you to sell it on consignment

My Dad purchased the truck new in March of 1992 in a suburb of Seattle WA. (I have all the paperwork - he saved everything). He drove it sparingly (he had a company car for his job) and then drove it back to Ohio in 98 when he moved in with my Grandfather. The truck was promptly parked in the garage as Dad drove my grandfather's car 90% of the time. When my Dad passed 4 years ago I bought the truck off the estate ($4,500 - for nostalgia mainly) and have driven maybe 2,000 miles - taking it out on the road once a week or so. I've mainly used it to get mulch and firewood etc. He loved the old truck and while he had the means to trade it in on a very nice and modern car he never did so.

Cheers!
