Default fuel filter and idle speed

I have a 98 Mazda b2500 with the 4 cylinder engine. Due to the way that it has been running lately, I think I may have a clogged fuel filter. I have also noticed that the idle speed seems to be low (could be caused by a clogged fuel filter). I have checked my owners manual and can't find the answer to either of the following questions....
1) Where is the fuel filter located on this beast?
2) What is the normal idle speed?

Thanks,

Glen

Default RE: fuel filter and idle speed

Fuel filter is located under the truck, mounted to the inside of the left frame rail, roughly right below where the driver sits. Idle speed should be 725 +/- 50 for manual trans and 775 +/- 50 for automatic trans. Both with all electric loads off, no a/c, and in Park for A/T. Idle speed is not adjustable. Clogged fuel filters will not usually cause any problems at idle but will instead show up as a loss of power or missfire on accel or under load when fuel demand is at its highest.
