"Slap right in" sounds like you want a direct bolt in without any hassles. If so, and your engine is carb, then you have two choices for engine replacement. Another F2, 2.2 engine, or the FE, 2.0 engine from the B2000.
However, if your stipulation is "no fender mods", then prospects widen. The Fe3 from a Kia Sportage would work with the install of its wiring harness and computer. A Miata engine and trans could be installed, but it isn't a bolt in. A Ford V8 could be installed, as well as many other engine/trans combos. You can do these without fender mods, but you will have to modify engine and trans mounts, plus reroute hoses and wiring.
As said, the minimum of hassles is F2 or FE, with the F2 having a bit more low torque. I have a B2200 with an oil burning engine. I plan to run it while I find another B2200, or an F engine from somebody's garage, to rebuild and then "slap right in".
