The rear leaf spring mounting brackets on my 99 B3000 PU are very badly rusted. The mechanic that completed the VA mandatory safety inspection showed me how badly rusted the mounts are. He passed it for this year but does not believe he can pass it again next year. I know that anything can be replaced but has anyone tried to replace these mounts and how much of a project is it? There is lots of rust on the major steel components but I do not see anything that will affect the structure or front end. Other than that, the truck is sound. All the major components; engine, transmission, electrical system, brakes and most of the body are in great shape. I am working on the small bits of rust on the body. I do not want to get rid of this truck if I can fix it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
