The first tip I'll give is to remove the pitman arm while the steering gear is still in the vehicle so it will be held in place really good. With the steering wheel locked to hold the shaft from turning, (i had the front tires up on drive up ramps), you'll need a pitman arm puller, big hammer, some type of substantial breaker bar ( I used a 3' pipe over an 18" breaker bar with a 6 point impact socket) and heat (I used MAP torch).

I worked on that ****** with all of these tools to the point I almost gave up. Finally, the heat got through and it popped off. And I mean POPPED!

I was able to get that off using a pitman arm/tie rod puller I have. I think the nut needed my 23 mm socket.

I got it apart and have identified all the seal locations and matched them with the ones in the kit. I'll show some narrative and step by step pictures later since I'm pressed for time now. Here are pics of the diagram that came in the kit and one pic of it disassembled. Also, I've been searching for YouTube videos that show a rebuild of the Mazda gear. Have not found any yet but I have learned that some of the Isuzu gears are almost identical internally so here is a link to one of those. I'm still searching for better ones.

This pic is my B2200 box almost fully apart.

Here are diagrams that came in the Mazda rebuild kit

I plan on doing a PDF write up with pictures eventually. Meanwhile I learned the steel ball bearings that go around the worm gear are not all the same size. In this Mazda B2200 steering gear there are 30 steel ball bearings. 15 of them are .05 mm smaller than the other 15. You have to alternate them by size when installing them, larger...smaller....larger....smaller, in order like that. When you pull the worm gear shaft out they all fall into a random pile. So, a micrometer is needed to measure them and sort them on to two piles. I used two old car speakers to keep each 15 ***** separated and contained.

UNDERSTANDING THESE BALL BEARINGS ARE TWO DIFFERENT SIZES IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THIS REBUILD

I made a Youtube vid. It's nothing fancy and does not go in to deep detail. It's just a basic summary with a few tips on how these B truck power steering gears come apart and go back together. There were a few places in the vid where I should have had a wider camera angle so I'm a tad disappointed in that, but not enough to do it over.

Glad mine is still original and shows no signs of leaking lol.
