Default power steering pressure line

I see that the rubber portion is available new for 30-40 bucks so no problem there. What about the metal line portion that comes directly from the pump to the hose? If I have some corrosion that is beginning to seep, how do I contend with that? Are there retro fits with parts from other vehicles or am I stuck sourcing from salvage vehicles? What are any options?

Thanks, John

John - do you mean the metal line with the banjo fitting, like where the red arrow is pointing in this diagram?

If so, this part appears to be available from Mazda dealers or online as Mazda UB4032617 about $50-$60
UB4032617.html

I'm 99% sure I have a used banjo/steel linein a box in my 130F garage 100 miles away in Phoenix, as I purchased a used power steering gearbox for my own truck a decade ago, and pretty sure I grabbed that part. It would cost almost as much from me as a new part with shipping.

Somehow I get the feeling that your truck would be out-of-service a couple of days if you took the steel pipe off and tried to clean it and solder/braze to repair it (or have a machine shop/radiator shop do that), so you want to have a replacement on-hand for a simple part exchange. You'd need two new copper crush washers for the banjo fitting too.

Thanks for the reply Cusser. Yes, that’s what we need to have on hand. I’ll follow up on your lead for a new part.

Any idea the part number for the crush washers?

Parts oftentimes don't come with needed parts like copper crush washers. I found this out last year when I replaced the flexible brake lines on the front of my B2200. I bought a copper crush washer kit from local Harbor Freight and used that.

Local parts stores had bubble packs of copper crush washers, usually in the oil change parts area, but those were way more expensive.

Are we sure the banjo end takes copper crush washers in the first place? Maybe it takes orings. From the looks of diagrams and other pictures on the web of disassembled banjos, I’m seeing orings

If it took crush washers then wouldn’t we see the edge of the outer one just between the nut and banjo? I don’t see that in this picture. This is from our B2200

92-B2200 - this was a few years ago, likely I got confused with the banjo fittings on the front flexible brake lines, my mistake. Here are two pictures I took back then, looks like it seals with two new O-rings; I'm attaching here a How-To I wrote for installing a new PS pump (bottom of post).
