Default A Small Project B2200

New to this forum... I was on Mazdatrucking, but it seems that the forum vanished.
I had posted my 1989 B2200 project there, but I guess that's gone.
I am the second owner of this truck, the first owner took amazing care of it. It has just under 100K miles on it.
It's a California truck, the body/chassis has original paint on it. TOTALLY rust free, and I mean there isn't even surface rust anywhere.
I have done a ton of factory style upgrades and mods to it.

Body mods:
New black grille, chrome front bumper, LED headlights with European spec headlamp housings, loud air horns, new lower valance, clear side marker lamps with orange LEDs, de-badged the entire truck, replaced the flat hood with the B2600 "bubble" hood, replaced the rear slider glass with a solid back lite, and (sort of goofy) a CB radio - Actually very useful when I travel - which I do lots

Suspension/tire wheels:
16 x7 Isuzu wheels with Z rated tires (HUGE improvement), massive front sway bar upgrade, performance shocks

Engine improvements:
Weber conversion, eliminate all pollution control (amazing how much better the engine bay looks), stainless header modded to 2.25" outlet, 2.25 exhaust with cat, remote mount oil filter with large Ford filter.

Interior:
Tach gauge cluster, touchscreen Android radio, grant three spoke steering wheel. Perfect dash...

Future:
Factory color repaint, lower suspension, thinking of installing a 5.0/5 speed Mustang engine I have sitting on the floor of my shop, installing factory A/C, recover the bench seat, or maybe buckets, replacing the rear end with a narrowed 8.8 disc brake unit from a Ford Exploder, re-locating the fuel tank to the rear of the chassis using a Chevy S10 Blazer tank, a set of 1.5" gauges (oil pressure, volt meter and secondary temp) in the pocket above the radio,
eliminating the rear bumper, new windshield with tint

This is sort of amusing...
I hang out at a shop that has an in floor dyno. For a laugh, I strapped the truck down and ran a few pulls. There were 7 guys there and I bet that the truck would only pull 80 HPs. All 7 guys kicked in $5 each.
Guess….

It made 75 RWHP/ 111 FTLBs of torque. Even with the engine performance improvements. FTW. A real dog.
I can say this much though - with the factory BS on this engine, the truck would struggle to reach 85 MPH. It now cruises easily at 75/80 and actually gets 20 MPG at that speed!
It also gained 10 MPH on top to 95 MPH.
I drove it from California to Tucson, then to Baton Rouge, then to the Florida Keys and back to Baton Rouge in 3.5 weeks. Ran flawlessly.

Ok, a major book going on, hope you found it a little interesting.
I'll post pix shortly.

Tnx for the props!
I'm just starting. I have to add more pix.
No project means much without them,

I just wish there was more performance stuff for the 2.0/ 2.2 engine.
No one makes performance crap unless there is Chinese BS that is made for these POSs.
And even then, seems like it's only a header, and Weber conversion.
No camshafts, ignition, cranks, etc.
Ford 5.0 is probably the most serious performance improvement I can do.

Even in Australia, where they make all sorts of weird engines go fast, nothing Mazda.
I say Mazdog.

Looks nice OP.

What are the wheels from? What size are they and what size tires do you put on them?

^^ They are Isuzu Trooper wheels - 1998 IIRC. 7" x 16" and they bolt right on with perfect offset. They fit like a factory wheel.
I have several sets of them since I have 5 Mazda rigs.
I also used them on multiple Nissan D21s (Hardbody) that I owned in the past.

I went from the 205/78 - 14 rubber bands (almost literally) to 225/60-16s. They're Z rated so they are super stiff.
The tires are made by a company called "Forceum" and all 4 were $225 with free shipping (!!)
Probably the biggest suspension improvement I could have made. The truck pulls corners much better now,
I also added a Bell Tech front sway bar (HUGE) with Delrin sway bar links. It wasn't cheap.
Next is to drop it.
I'm not going into the weeds, just enough to improve looks and more importantly... to improve handling.
I'll probably do 2" block in back and unspring the torsion bars. I'll probably replace the rear springs with lowering replacements in the future.
I also replaced the rear rubber leaf spring bushings with Delrin upgrades.
I may also do coil overs in front some time. Depends on a lot of variables.
The truck looks/drives much better now.
