I like the whitewall look on the tires.

I pulled the aftermarket rear tubular bumper today. There's surface rust bubbles on the bottom lip of the bed. I'll have to grind them down, primer, and paint it soon.

 

Since I am currently in California, this project will be on hold for a few. The truck is at the shop in Baton Rouge where I hang out, they are going to install a complete factory A/C system in it.
A friend had an 89 B2600 that was stripped for parts... doors, hood fenders. Mostly body parts. He gave it to me - and bonus... It has a complete A/C system.
It also has a fixed back glass. My truck had a slider in it that was beat. It rattled like a spray can, and didn't lock very well. The shop guys swapped the back glass.
It also has power steering. Still thinking about it, but it isn't high on my list of options that I need/want.
One of the guys wants to build the truck into a rat/race rig after I am through grabbing parts. Good luck

I wish my 1987 B2200 had power steering.

 

Of all of the B series trucks I have seen in wrecking yards, I have seen 2 with power steering.
Both were B2600s. Both had A/C too. The rest (B2000 + B2200) were strippers with few accessories.
This was in Baton Rouge and Northern California.
I even saw one B2600 with a flat hood. Probably replaced at some point in time.

I am slowly upgrading this POS with options. It too was a stripper.

 

Parts yard, so you get the incidental parts. Funny, when I had an alternator/fan belt break one night I was trying to get my daughter to her softball tournament, so I just cut the PS belt and replaced the alternator belt. Except for parking lot stuff, I didn't notice a big difference; and the only reason I soon replaced the PS belt was because I didn't know if driving it without the PS belt could cause some lubrication issues or damage.

Here in Arizona, back when the parts yards still had "retired" Mazda trucks, most had PS and AC. Once I pulled a PS-AC mount to sell to someone in NC, and a week later I went back to pull the PS gearbox for myself, as that one was not leaking, and mine was leaking. After the engine was rebuilt in early 2020, I was so thrilled at not having oil leaks that I installed that used PS gearbox into mine, and it works and doesn't leak.

Currently: very rare to see a MAzda truck on the road, could be several months. And very rare in the parts yards, most have been crushed for their metal.

 

Yes, they are not very common anymore.
I have a small farm in central New York - the land of salt. Any 5 year old vehicle has rust underneath if it has been driven in winter.
I probably have more Mazda B series than the whole county I live in. I never see them.
They went to the graveyard 20 years ago. If you see one in a yard, it didn't come from New York.
I look for them here in California, no rust.
I have seen several for sale, but they are beat, and they either are a serious project or asking way too much $$.
People are asking stupid money for older vehicles.
A 67 to 72 Chevy C10 which isn't running - most are around $2500.

A Camaro SHELL - $2000!! No drive train, no interior and a crappy body. FTW...

 

There was a B2000 in the local junkyard about a year ago that had no A/C but PS. I was unsure that a B2000 system would work in my B2200, so I passed on it. Before that B2000, it's been years since the last B-series truck has been in the yard.

I wonder if there's an aftermarket system for PS for my truck... Hmmmm...
