Default Blower Motor Resistor

I just got one at autozone. 44 bucks tax and all. Parked under the shade tree and took about 5 minutes to remove the glove box and install it..... SO SWEET!

Here's the link to the one for my 90 b2200 SE http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...382&store=3850

That sounds like the AC compressor is seized, and the resistance makes a terrible sound and can even cause the engine to stop. The AC compressor normally comes on in the defrost position as well. For a short term "fix" to get the truck running for winter, cut off the AC belt or do not turn on either defroster or AC.

Same thing happened to my 2004 Frontier in September on way to California; I just turned off AC, replaced the compressor and drier once I returned.

i have a similar issue, ac light comes on but not compressor or radiator fan. fuses and relays are good. i can manually turn both of them on with a scanner but if i turn the compressor on, the fan does not turn on with it. i think its either going to be the controller or the pcm. i dont know how to confirm that besides testing wires. i guess it could also be something to do with the fan module but from what ive seen on the schematic, i dont see how it would affect the compressor turning on. any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like a 1994/newer made-in-USA Mazda/Ford Ranger to me.

On "our" 1986-1993 made-in-Japan B-Series Mazda trucks, such symptoms would be consistent with a bad blower resistor.
