Fuel door cover broke off
My gfs ‘21 CX30 needed gas last night. We stopped to get gas and we had freezing rain. Doors were all unlocked but the door wouldn’t open. It started to budge so I tried to just pry it open and the door cover fell off 😅 anyway to fix this without going to the dealership? Locking gas doors are dumb 🥴

I don't know for sure about the CX-30, but in most cars pulling the lever to open the fuel door causes a steel cable with a plunger on the end to retract from the fuel door so it can spring open. On my Mazda 3, I once had the plunger get stuck. (In the OP's case, the plunger might have been frozen.) I had to work the release lever back and forth a bunch of times to get the fuel door to finally open. Once it was open, I put a drop of lube on the plunger and pushed it in and out a few times. Hasn't got stuck since.
But prying it open with the plunger still engaged would almost certainly damage either the plunger or the fuel door.

1.Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the service hole.
2.Move the tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and detach the tab.
3.Move the fuel-filler lid in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure with the tab left detached, and remove the fuel-filler lid.
4.Install in the reverse order of removal.
