Our 2015 CX-5 currently has 90,000 miles and we have really enjoyed the car. Since we got the car, we have been driving one or two round trips a year to California. The thumping sound and with a slight vibration in the steering wheel first became noticeable in the 30,000 to 40,000 mile range.. The rapidity of the thumping is a strictly a function of car speed and not what gear the transmission is in. The problem also becomes more noticeable when turning to the left or right. The car has been serviced regularly by the dealer and this issue was brought up to the dealer at each service visit. Tires have been rotated every 5000 to 7500 miles. The dealer initially blamed the tires and I replaced the tires at 58,000 miles. The problem still existed. I had the front end alignment checked - no problem. It is not a wheel balance problem. I just had the car serviced at 90,000 miles and the tires rotated. The service manager said that they could not find any problems - tires were ok, they checked bearings and seals in the frontend and every thing was ok. I told him that I remained concerned about car safety as we are planning to drive out to California soon, a 5000+ mile high speed trip. He said he was sure the car was safe - and good to go. Since this last servicing, the problem still exists, and I remain concerned about prolonged high speed interstate travel (70 t0 85 MPH). I am looking for some help to explain and help resolve this issue.
