2017/18 compared to 2016
I had my 2016 Grand touring in to get the headlights replaced ( LED rings failed thank God it was a warranty issue) and when I was there I saw the new version of the CX-5. I was blown away by the body changes ( great front end) and the interior looks far nicer than my 2016. I was bummed that this new version came out so soon after we purchased ours. I guess I should have done some more research as to when a model change was coming.
So other than the the obvious visuals how much better is the 2017/18 than the 2016? Damn..there is always "newer, better" on everything almost too soon.

If you are on a 2016, some actually claim that it is more fun to drive when compared to the 2017/2018. If I were in your shoes and your car has no obvious mechanical issues at this time, I would wait for the 2019 or 2020 model year. These get technologically better and more fuel efficient by the year.

Looks like we should keep what we have and not make any assumptions when it comes time to buy our next vehicles.

I had my car at a dealer and took a drive in a new 2018 GT. I like the new interior
better but other than that now much difference. The biggest improvement is that it is quieter with the new glass and insulation. Big change for the better there.

I kinda have to disagree. I have a 2016 but for the past 2 days i've been driving a 2017 in red. Outside is beautiful and better than my 16. inside, however, I like the 16 more. it feels more premium and the screen on the 17 is ugly!

Interesting. I just watched about 10 video reviews of the Gen 2 version and all point to a much nicer interior than the older version. What don't you like about the nav screen? Dealer here in Phoenix seems desperate to have me trade my '16 in for a 2018 GT but I can't justify the hit I would take if I did that.

You know, it's definitely just personal preference but I like the bulkiness of the 2016 dashboard. As I said, it feels more premium. The new nav screen looks like an ipad on a stand and for some reason I don't like it.
Outside however, I think is way more beautiful than my 2016. I love the lines.
I wouldn't trade in now if I were you. I would wait until 2020/2021 models.
