Default 2017 vs 2018 -> i-activesense worth it?

Hey guys, I am about to buy a CX5. One dealer gave me a great price on a 2017 cx5 touring with the upgraded package (bose, blindspot, moon roof, trunk), it doesn't have the lane assist or adaptive cruise (26k miles). Another dealer has a 2018 cx5 touring with all the same upgrades as above (28k miles) but this one does have the i-activesense extras (ACC, LA) and bigger rims. The price difference is $1700 OTD.

both are certified 1 owner, normal servicing and in great condition.

My question is this worth it? My initial gut is saying not worth it. Maybe $1000 more would be worth it but 1700 for it is a lot. I am also considering the resale value in the future, 4-5 years from now.

Any input would be great. Thanks, excited to get the CX5 either way!

Everything else being mostly equal, 2018 will have higher resale value than 2017.

Do the math. Resale value would be better with the 2018 and LA and adaptive cruise are very nice to have.

Yes, 2018 will have a better resale value especially with the extra features. But I am more wondering if the extra $1700 for the 2018 over the 2017 is worth it now and in the end? Thanks

I highly recommend ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control). LA (Lane Assist) is a bit over-sensitive but ACC makes long road trips very enjoyable (hopefully in the near future once we have this virus behind us).

Also 2018 has the cylinder-deactivation engine. There was a recall on that which solved an issue and it is supposed to get better mileage compared to the 2017 engine.

So I would go with the 2018. Good luck with your purchase.

my opinion.....
1. for me personally as the driver, the iactivesense options you mention have very little value and if I was buying this CX5 as a long term drive-it-ill-it-dies option (maybe 12-15 years) then I would not pay extra for this.... however
2. if you think you might trade-in or sell this CX5 in 3 to 5 years then yes get the extra options at the relatively small incremental price because the dealer or new buyer will look at the vehicle as being less desirable than one with those options

If you are planning to keep it long term 10+ years I will go for the 2018 + all the toys available. If doing something short term like you were saying 3-5 year go with the 2017. You would be saving $1700 + %. The Bose system is great, our 2013 CX5 touring has it and it is amazing.... getting on my Ody makes me want to add an amp to the van. Jejeje. Resale value in a car is something that I don't really look at it or think too much about it, because I don't see it as an investment instead has a necessity, car's value goes down like crazy... basically is like throwing $200+ dollars out of the window every month + the payment that you are making. Just my two cents. If you are financing check the rates with ur primary banking institution first or credit union... usually they have better rates than the dealership.

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up going with the 2018. I would regret "not having something" more than I would "paying more and having it". I love it right now. I use the ACC a ton so it is worth it. Very happy with the car just need to install the android auto upgrade and will be all set! thanks again
