Looks like this petition is pretty old (about 3 years?) Did it go anywhere?
We have the 2018 soul red crystal paint too but no issues (knocking on wood). We had the Zurich paint protection applied at time of purchase so that might have helped quite a lot.

Anyone with 1/2 brain can check and see that the RED Mazda paint basic formula (not the pigmentation) is the same as other colors in the same year/model line and the applied thickness or coats is also the same as other colors. It's just some colors will show chips better much the same as a brown or Tan colored car when dirty does not show it as much as white or Black colored vehicles. LOL

You are correct, the petition started in 2018. I signed recently once I started researching the 2018 soul red crystal paint. I personally have reached out to Mazda Corporate and the lawyer Michael Niznik. Mazda Corporate had the local dealership call me, to take the car in for them to take pictures and for me to get a quote to correct the problem with the paint.

MY guess is because its BS. The pictures and the chips look exactly like my Mica Black Mazda. LOL I am sure that maybe some smart person figured out it's not the paint but the Aerodynamics' of the design. I am surprised we dont see more stupid complaints about the windshield glass in Mazda's. LOL

I repainted my hood once already and you can see in the pictures that it not only the RED that has chipping issues from debris contact . LOL it just the way the vehckle is designed, that is the aerodynamic's. Not the paint LOL
As of today, my MAZDA has 38043 miles and IMHO I take meticulously better care of my MAZDA then most all members on this forum and yet my MICA Black MAZDA paint does the same thing some seem to think only the RED does???
This picture I took only a few hours ago. My Mazda is garage kept and mostly around town driving. There are a few 100 miles weekend trips.

You stated you repainted your hood, this is what we're talking not the bumper. The pictures the dealership took last week was the hood, both sides and the top. Do as you please, I'm moving forward with my concerns. When I worked at BMW we called that road rash because of the performance and excellent street handling.

I agree, the red was an upgrade for close to $600. In my case I do not have any issues so far after 4 years of ownership so I cannot sign the petition.

The bumper was what I took a picture of yesterday I was pressure washing the front subframe and front chassis area's, NOT the complete car. I did mention the hood was in the same condition. I painted it once for the serious amount of chipping much like the picture in the first response on this thread and repainted it. It is not almost 2 years later and the same condition. It has nothing to do with the color except RED get attention and show the chips more than IMO other colors.
Your picture of paint flaking, and peeling is much different then chips caused from apparently impacts. LOL But we live in a country that is sue happy so good luck with this one. LOL
I will however just for you as I am in the process of a sesonal complete cleaning and detailing every aspect including the undercarriage post a picture of my current hood and all the chips.

Thank you Callisto for your comments. As this concern is gaining momentum, I suggest that you and anyone who has had to pay for paint repairs similar to the pictures to keep your receipts. So when the Judge settles you should be able to claim your reimbursement.
