Just another thought what I noticed is that when you look at the HUD with polarized sunglasses, it is indeed hard to see. No issues if we don't wear polarized sunglasses in our case.

You are exactly right. My wife and I recently bought polarized sunglasses to keep in her car. That's when we started having the problem. When I did the reset, I did it on the driveway and I wasn't wearing my sunglasses. I thought the reset did it because the HUD was very clear so I posted the reply that the BACK-MUTE-NAV reset worked. Now, I (we) won't be able to wear our sunglasses during the day in Arizona!

Well, I still wear my sunglasses. It helps if you really want/need to see the HUD, to tilt your head up and down. There is always an angle when you can see the HUD, even if you wear polarized sunglasses. I know it is not convenient, but right now the only remedy. I think newer technology HUD resolved the issue about polarized sunglasses but not the ones we have in our CX-5.
