So, did you buy the car new? Or second hand? If you are the original owner, and this lens bracket just broke one day, then I would probably check some junkyards to see if you can buy a replacement part for it. If you are not the original owner, then there is no telling what a previous owner has done. The lens bracket could have been damaged when something was ran over while driving the car, and the tire flipped it up and into that part of the rear bumper. I've seen stranger things done!

Happy to report that a Mazda dealer (Capitol Mazda) looked at the internal broken bracket and submitted their report to Mazda USA without demanding a diagnostic fee. With this report, Mazda USA have authorized Capitol Mazda to repair it. This experience had me rattled because on one hand, if I tried to claim from my auto insurance that the damage was due to being struct by an auto, it would be a hard sell (no sign of damage on the bumper and it will be rejected). On the other hand, Mazda USA could deny it by saying it is out of warranty (so me buying an expensive bumper-to-bumper warranty was useless). And this repair will be on me ..... very thankful this was repaired to my satisfaction!!! Thank you Mazda USA.
