2021 CX-5 split screen on mazda nav with carplay
Hello all,
I just bought a new 2021 Maxda CX-5 GTR. I opted to get the dealer to install the SD navigation card as well because I really like the traffic sign recognition and turn by turn directions available with the heads up display. My daughter has a 2021 CX-30 top trim level and I learned that, with the mazda navigation displayed and the phone plugged in, you can split screen the nav unit and have the album art for the song playing from carplay on the screen as well by holding the nav button down and choosing "entertainment". This works great for radio, sirius, bluetooth and CarPlay, Pandora on the CX-30. And it does ALMOST work on my CX-5. I cannot get the album art to show if I have the phone plugged in and carplay running. The radio, Sirius, bluetooth and Pandora app options all work with the album art displayed. However, carplay does not. All I get is the right-hand third of the screen blacked out and the words "Carplay" displayed. I have done a factory reset of the system, updated the SD card, updated the Gracenote database and nothing works. I know it is a trivial thing but I like to have the split screen option available with the functionality of carplay ready if needed. Any advice on troubleshooting this you could give would be great. Thanks!
