Default Actual MPG's

Well I just filled my tank for a second time and clocked 368mi on my CX-5 prior to filling it. Once I finished filling it topped off @ 12.57ga's, that's an overall average of 29.28MPG... Not bad for my first average, and it's not even broken in yet!

I drove about equal amounts of city and hwy.

That's a better average than I get with my 2.3L 3 series HB!! Pretty derned good I'd say.
But don't expect the mileage to change much. Winter and summer yes. Use of the A/C, yes, but not during an apples to apples test.

If you are interested you could be the first on www.fuelly.com reporting on a CX-5.

*Update*

OK, this is my 3rd tank of gas and my driving seemed just slightly more aggressive in the city this time (again, seemed). This time around the mileage really surprised me. I put exactly 413.0 miles on it when I pulled into the gas station and filled it to the rim with 12.57 gallons.... THAT'S 32.88 MPG!!!! WOW! This is the first vehicle I have bought that actually achieved an overall average of the top MPG number...ever! I really couldn't be happier with the actual mileage I am getting!

^ Yes, that's exactly how I fillup too, no mess, no problems.

I did my first fillup yesterday. 25.85 actual calculation, 26.5 average shown on dash, not bad.

Probably my salesman was a little aggressive filling up the car 1/2 hour before delivery, which explains the .65 mi./gallon difference.

btw - Update:

Average MPG on dash seems to be at least 98%, based on 2 tanks measured and averaged the old way so far. I'm averaging 27.4

Not done with the first tank yet, but we're seeing 28 MPG on the display. That's around halfway through the first tank. More city miles than highway, though there have been a couple of longer stretches of highway driving in there (Probably 90+ miles of the 220 or so we've driven), so not at all heavily slanted towards city by any means.

So far four fill ups and averaging 30.3 with about 90% highway. Thought mpg would be a little better.

AWD is rated for 31 highway. Since 75-80mph is common criuising speed in CA, I'll be lucky to exceed 30.

Not done with the 1st tank yet, but the display is showing 33 so far. 70% highway driving going 70 to 75
