Virgin, I was pointing out the flawed logic of someone telling people to get back on topic when it's the norm for the thread (you conveniently erased all evidence of that with your cleanup, but as I pointed out, it was completely normal to discuss MPG-related things such as the stopping feature unavailable in the US you were chatting about on page 2.) . . .

I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with people having a conversation which is related to a main topic. (To be honest, I have very little problem with people having conversations that are only related in passing, but I was just born flexible like that.) So your comment about stone throwing is completely inaccurate, and it's rather telling that despite your cleanup you felt the deep need to single me out.

Rather obvious that I'd respond to a direct comment, is it not? How does that serve what ostensibly "appears" to be an attempt to steer the thread back on topic? It doesn't, but apparently you couldn't leave it alone.

Sorry I have nothing new to add on the MPG front, but we haven't had to fill up since getting back from Vegas a week and a half ago. Actual MPG seems to be "more than sufficient" thus.

(P.S. you completely forgot to prune your original reply which has nothing to do with the mileage on a CX-5. Again, I don't care, I just find it telling that on topic is extremely subjective.)

 

Since Vegas we've had a load of days at work for my wife, some errands, a couple of trips up and down the freeway and we've averaged 26ish MPG over those 330ish miles.

 

28.0 mpg on last tank with over 300 mles, included 150 mile freeway trip in very light traffic.

 

I've only gassed up twice, first tank was 27.16 with a freeway/city mix and the second was 25.87 which was almost all city. My city driving is a bit on the spirited side, still adapting from an RX-8 to the CX-5. Sure beats the 15/16 mpg I was getting in the 8 ( but i do miss it).

 

just hit 2000 miles - car reads 29.4 - FWD GT
mixed driving probably 60 % highway - avg. 70-75 mph

 

last two tanks were 32.5 MPG and 31.9 MPG manually calculated. That is mostly interstate at 70 MPH.
