Default Passed Lucky 13k Mileage Mark - still averaging 400+ miles per tank

Anyone else figure out a way to consistently fill your tank to approximately the same level each time? With my former Ridgeline, it was pretty straightforward, I could get a full tank at each fill up. With the CX-5, it seems to me to fill slower. almost like the vapor recirc lines are causing the fuel to back up into the fill neck too soon. Just wondering if I am crazy.

Seeing more of our fellow owners on the road lately. And it is receiving some good press as well.

Talk to you all later

Tripped over 13,000 miles this week, all miles have been in town, commute, no long trips yet. That will change in January as I will have an opportunity to drive up to Illinois. It is on that journey I hope to hit the magical 30+ mpg. I have hit it once, but more often have hit 28 and 29 mpg per tank. My measurement has always been to fill the tank to Full (as in previous post, fuel stops are now longer compared to prior vehicles), and record the miles driven from the last fill up divided by gallons. I do find it remarkable that I can hit an average 28mpg in spite of my driving habits of quick starts (well, without that diesel they are keeping from us...... as quick as this little 2 liter 4 cylinder can get me) and average cruising speeds of 70mph to, well, let's say i haven't pushed to triple digits. i find myself cruising around the 80mph range most of the time if traffic pattern allows it.

I think i almost have a coworker convinced to at least check one out for himself, we shall see.

Take care everyone, have a safe and happy Holiday Season with friends and family.

I bought mine last week, it had 11k miles on it (off lease form Mazda), 2wd touring. Compared speedo and odometer to gps and they were right on each other. I've done 4 top-off fills at the same pump, same weather and about 130 miles each time. Two were town driving, two were highway (flat here in Illinois). I've found the computer to be just less then 2mpg's optimistic. Average city has been 30.1, average highway 38.4 based on odometer/pump measure at 60 mph. It'll take more measurements to achieve any real accuracy, but the intitial results are very promising!

I'm finding the gas mileage computer to be about 5% too favorable.

I personally have never owned a vehicle with one of these, but the one's I am aware of always seem to be 5% to the good, just like the temperature sensor in vehicles are never quite accurate either.
I simply calculate my mpg's the old fashioned way, which depending upon the station and pump used, I'm sure there is some room for error there too, just not multiplied by a trip/mpg computer.

Yes, I monitor my mpg the old way too.

The Mazda computer seems to be off about 5% a bit more than I expected, (unlike my other vehicles which are off a more normal amount of 2% or so).

Passed 13K miles recently, average is 26.1 mpg, about 80% city, 20% highway. Pretty much consistent with EPA mpg ratings for AWD CX-5 given the city/highway ratios.

I just hit 4,000 miles & 4 months tonight on the way home from work. I drive 50/50 mixed miles with a 60 mile round trip commute 3 times weekly. My average is 30.7 mpg.

I'd say A - Put some air in your tires or B - Have your car checked by Mazda as those numbers make no sense. I'm also about that mileage and my "all city miles" fillups are in the 22 MPG range. My best "highway miles" just over 30 MPG.

Thanks for the response. However, if the air pressure were low, if I am not mistaken, the TPS symbol would luminate?
