Default Auto Lock Question

I have a 2016.5 CX-5 and have a question about the Auto-Lock feature. I noticed that if a passenger gets out and has their door open while the driver with the key FOB gets out, closes the door and starts to walk away, the vehicle will not auto-lock. Am I missing something or do all the doors need to be shut before the person with the key FOB walks away?

Yes all doors & tailgate/boot/trunk need to be 100% closed first.

Yup, you need to close all doors first. Auto-lock is applied when you shift out of park, start driving and such.
