Angry Car starting remotely - in error

I do not have the remote start feature on my 2018 CX5 (Touring), but since replacing the car battery any time I lock the doors (remotely OR from inside the car) the car starts. The car runs a few seconds and then turns off. Even WITHOUT the key, I can get into the car, hit the "lock doors" button on the door and the car will start and remain running when I do not have the key fob?! HOW THE HECK IS THIS POSSIBLE? I've done internet searches and found nothing on this. Any ideas??

Did you buy the car used?

Maybe they're getting a remote removed from their colon

Yes, I'm the second owner. At the time of purchase everything looked fine on the Carfax report. Everything about the car has been really good, except for this strange issue with starting.

Wonder if the prior owner installed a remote starter that is acting up or improperly disabled.

That's where I was leading to as well since it's pre-owned.

I figured that, but I wasn't sure if you had written the thread off.
