Default CX-5 Buying Advice Please

Thinking about joining the Mazda family. I have these options of getting a used or a new CX-5:

1) $24,400 2016.5 AWD Touring, Black, 12,500 miles with advanced blind spot monitoring, moonroof, heated seats, Bose sound system and navigation, power driver seat

2) $21,000 2017 AWD Touring, Metallic Grey, with Premium Package (auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, auto on/off headlights, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, Smart City Brake Support, navigation, moonroof, power liftgate, leatherette/suede interior)

So basically, the brand new (and newly designed) 2017 has the auto-dimming rearview mirror, auto on/off headlights, power lift gate, smart city braking, and leatherette/suede interior... but is $3400 more.

I found the 2017 to be a smoother and quieter ride. I also like the styling a bit more although they are both similar.

Any thoughts on what is the better deal? Is it worth the extra money in your opinion to go with the 2017?

I'd go with the 2016. The auto headlights are nice, but how difficult is it to turn a switch (though two of my three cars have that feature). The manual lift gate is easy to raise and the smart city braking does not impress me. It's not like the accident avoidance system in my Jeep that works at all speeds and, by the time it kicks in, you're going to hit someone anyway. The cloth is more comfortable than the leatherette and you can buy and easily install the mirror either from Mazda or online if you want that.

Besides, there are fewer electronic gizmos to go wrong on the 2016 you're looking at.

Sorry MazdaMaybe, your post makes no sense. The $21k price on the 2017 must be a typo.

I think he has the two prices reversed.

My apologies, I did have the prices reversed. Should have been $21K for the 2016.5 and $24,400 for the 2017.

Would run Autocheck on the 2016.5; if it's free of fleet/rental use or coming from a flood state, that's a good price on it. I have the manual liftgate and don't feel the need for power on that. The power seat is more important. Also you're getting the moonroof and Bose, though reviewers said it wasn't that much better. Bottom line is color as well - black is classic whereas gray can't be seen in the rain. That's a really good price on the 2017 if it's new. The auto dimming mirror is very nice on the freeway at night. Hard choice - depends on what matters most to you personally.

Where are you located that you are getting a 2017 Touring with premium pkg? That is $4K less than I was looking at today!
