CX-5 not accelerating-malfunctioning "solenoid"
Yesterday I had to have my 2014 CX-5 towed to the dealer, because the car was suddenly not able to accelerate. Fortunately, I was stopped at a traffic light when I realized I could not accelerate and not too far from a gas station, but if I had been on the highway driving, I would have been in a severe accident. I was informed by the dealer this afternoon that the shift cellanoid in the transmission is malfunctioning and they have to replace the valve body. As you can imagine, this causes me and my family great concern. We have owned various Mazda's since 2000 and been very happy with them, but have never had to worry about the car malfunctioning while driving.
Wondering if this is a systemic problem with the skyactiv technology. Has anyone else experienced a malfunction with the shift cellanoid in an automatic transmission?

First of all, it's a "solenoid" and it's not the first time I've heard of a valve body replacement on a CX-5 automatic. There were some bad ones, but the good news is once it's replaced, the likelihood of it happening again is slim to none.

Thank you for your comment and correction. I have spoken to Mazda USA in CA and they are doing their best to address the issue, as I am extremely concerned about my safety. However, when asked if this has been a problem, they have not been aware of one. Thus, I would greatly appreciate it if you can provide me additional information as to where you have heard/seen that this has been an issue. In advance, many thanks.
