CX-5 PremiumViewing angles give different impressions of size
I come to a CX-5 from an Ranger pickup.
The ride is very comfortable and roomy like a pickup. I have to learn to make shorter turns now because there is no pickup bed following. So maybe I am still having pickup truck withdrawal 😀
I was wondering if any new CX-5 Premium owners noticed this:
From the side view the CX-5 seems to be tall and formidable.
And the front grill also gives the impression of being a large tough SUV.
However, when viewing the from the rear, the CX-5 Hatchback trunk seems quite small, like a small SUV.
I am not sure how the vehicle manages so many different perceptions of size. I think the bigger wheels and chrome give it that bigger appearance, which is not visible from the rear. The grill naturally has a tall look to it.
I see the lower trim levels, and they look like normal mid-size SUV’s, perhaps on the smaller side.
A CX-5 Premium is sort of like a prism. Looks a bit different from all angles.

Just curious, do you refer to your CX-5 as a Car,an SUV or the model name CX-5 or do you give it a name?

I say compact SUV since it's a bit more smaller than my previous Acura RDX which is in the next segment up. It's very high up when compared to a sedan that's so much lower to the ground.

But then, back before she died, I simply called our dog "Dog," though my wife and daughter used her name.

So far “car” rolled off my tongue the best but maybe “ the Mazda” will become a habit.
Thanks for all the replies. I guess I need to turn on notifications so I see the replies.
I am pondering Mazda’s lineup which seems based around vehicle size, where do you see the CX-9? How about the new CX-90?
Is the CX-5 now the new medium size?
Wish I could replace my minivan with a CX-90.
