Default Cx5 2018 sport mode useless

Hello
i tried the sport mode on my Cx5 2018, it’s not well calibrated via the transmission, useless to me and also to the automobiles journalists that test the car.
it is functioning very well on my wife Mazda 3 Gt 2018. A lot more punch. Go figure
Maybe they will reprogram the Cx5 sport mode feature
It would be awesome, a little more power would be a +

Indeed it's worthless. I never use it. All it does is hold a gear too low. Not that big of a deal, though. There is a kickdown switch that will tell the car to downshift when the throttle pedal is fully depressed.

As far as more power, that's not something a sport mode can provide.... need boost or a bigger engine.

Default Sport mode on Cx5

Thanks for your reply. I just want to mention that this sport mode works a lot better on my wife Mazda 3 GT 2018. Same engine, same 6 speed transmission Mazda should tune it the same way no?
just a observation.
i won’t miss sleep tonite over this.
best regards
claude

Default Alternative, Cx5 turbo

Yes for sure, don’t have the $ right now but it’s fine at 185hp

There is no kickdown switch, it may feel like there is, but the click noise is just there to fool the driver.

Interesting. Dang, Mazda fooled me. My previous vehicles have had this switch, will have to take a closer look. There's still manual mode, though the automatic usually downshifts as soon as WOT is requested.

For 2020, paddle shifters will be available but only on Grand Touring or higher trims. No 19" wheels for me.

The "kickdown" switch does not change the gear as I suspect it does on some vehicles, but when you press the gas it stops you with a little space before the floor. pushing beyond the click gives you a little more power. Pre-click is for normal driving. beyond the click is for "I need to get the hell out of here" driving.

Interesting video. They make it sound as if the engine doesn't make full power until the pedal is pushed fully to the floor and the switch is activated. I find it hard to believe this is true.
