Hi i Just got the 2016 mazda CX5, i live on a hill and when going up starts on 1st and really fast changes to 2nd loosing power so transmission has to go back to 1st. Is this normal? Cause i've had other A/T cars and use to climb on 1st all the way. Thank you.

 

The SkyActive 6at, like most modern automatics, is programmed to get you into high gear as quickly as possible to optimize fuel mileage. You're fortunate to have a sport mode switch on your 2016 which will hold gears longer than the default standard mode. Put it in sport going up your hill and your problem should be solved.

 

Thank for the answer. I climbed with the sport mode on an still 2 gear entries. I guess i'll have to climb with manual 1st. Thank again.
