Question Front and rear Bumper Guards

Just picked up the 2021 CX-5 Carbon Edition and need some real feedback on some street parking bumper protection. After reading lots of reviews I'm not seeing anything about their performance/fitment on the CX-5. If anyone has experience looking for, finding, trying out some protection from lazy parkers that can't coordinate the gas and brake pedals, I'm all ears!

Congrats on new car!

I like the rear guard. Other alternative is to have a 2 inch receiver installed and add a metal step or bumper guard. Lockable and removable, and may be less inviting than a foam bumper guard....do people say, "oh good, got a guard, I can hit the car and not do any damage to my car?"

Front guard maybe you need something more like a brush guard, bull guard, or Setina due to complex front shapes...just own it and change the contours

Not sure what you mean by metal step and receiver?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Beautiful picture of a beautiful car. Just bought mine in December. Looks more blue grey on my computer.
I bought the Bumper Bully for my wife's Crosstrek, but still have yet to put it on, but then again, it's driven only locally. Do you own or lease? You are smart to get bumper protection You will be getting good info soon enough, thankfully.

Now I will digress a bit. Driving and parking in NYC is a whole nother ball game and I have been doing that for over forty years. Traffic/congestion, distracted drivers/ unsafe drivers and poorly maintained streets and roads have led me to choose mass transit more often. Street parking in NYC was always a challenge with alternate parking regulations but with the increasingly more prevalent pedestrian only areas and bike lanes, it's gotten worse.

In the last 15 years or so, I park in a somewhat work subsidised garage. And it was not a terribly uncommon scene at that time to observe people arguing with the attendants there about damage to their cars (even happened to me) while in the lot. One time I was speaking to a coworker and he mentioned that the attenedents mentioned that owner of the garage needed to increase income which not only meant a hike in rates, but that they would have to squeeze more cars in the below ground level lots. Well, how did they do that? Simple (sadly) they would keep ALL windows open and since they were unable to open the doors wide enough to exits, they would literally crawl through the windows!
Soooo, in order for that not to happen to my car/cars I would have to schmooze them - bagels in the morning, pizza at night, generous Christmas tip/bonus, etc. It's worth it to me to have my car "taken care of" and left upstairs and not in the lower.crowded levels. And even with that I ended up with a rear bumper scratch. Jeeez, as if car ownership is not expensive enough!

I'm a bit of an OCD with my cars - PPF on the whole front and I apply a ceramic coating as soon as possible. I hand wash my cars and would never bring them to a car wash. No one eats in the car, smoking is out of the question. I clean the interior quite often, so my cars are important enough for me to fuss over. You are wise to get bumper protection - rear and front for NYC parking. I hope you enjoy your car for the swett and comfortable car it is, but remember at the end of the day the car belongs to the street.

I know, very poor writing....

What I meant was install a 2 inch receiver. This gives you flexibility for a variety of accessories, but that includes metal steps that fit into the 2 inch receiver. This same site has a lot of options for bumper guards front and rear that may serve as more protection...and might offer more visual protection...the metal bars might be something the other car would not want to "tap"

Having a hitch and ball mounted (and locked so it can't be stolen) is also a great deterrent to someone who wants to tap your bumper as it can do even more damage to their car.

Thanks. I always thought that rear receiver with a step would be useful on an SUV/CUV - for that reason - gives people pause when parking near you - as well as the very functional help when washing/waxing the car. Does Mazda off receivers?

Mazda has a factory receiver you can buy from the parts department, and there are numerous aftermarket vendors selling receivers.

Well, as expected, been holding forever on the phone from my dealer. Next call, different dealer - service/phone operator? said all hitches are on backorder with no ETA available. No clue on installation cost either. Jeeez, what crappy dealer experiences.
Is there any drilling or other 'invasive" type work that needs to be done for the install?
