Heated mirrors?
#2
On the older models, the heated mirrors came on with the rear defroster. You can tell they are working if the ice and/or mist disappears. Sometimes, it takes a long time to melt ice though.

The heated mirrors on the 2019 models work the same way - activated by the rear defroster. See "Mirror Defogger" on page 4-83 in the owner's manual.

If the snow is heavy, you might want to brush the excess off the mirrors before you drive off. If you're like me you never remember until you're on the road.

It wasnt the snow, but the frozen ice on the mirrors. I had the rear defroster on for 20 minutes. I would have thought in that time i would have seen some ice melt.

Melting the ice on the mirrors takes a long time. The mirrors are out in the wind and there is not warm interior to help as on the rear glass.

Good luck to both of us!
