Default How do I know if I have a 129kw or 140 kw diesel

I have a 2018 Mazda Akira (Australian model) with a 2.2 litre diesel motor. Everything I see says 2018 was the year the 140kw motor started being used but I don't know what month. Is there any way I can tell?

I would think your owners manual would tell you the power of your motor, No?

2018 was the change over front the 129kw to the 140kw version.

I know of at least two ways to tell.

Open the bonnet, Remove the plastic engine cover, take a photo of the engine and post it here.

Something to try, go to www.supercheapauto.com.au, enter your rego and see if it lists yours as 129 or 140kw ( I know they have both options)

Unfortunately the manual doesn't tell me.

I tried the supercheap site but it just says
We’ve found a few potential vehicles. Select the correct one:
MAZDA CX-5 Auto KF KF4W2 03/2017~05/2018 4 Door SUV AWD DIESEL 2.2 litre, SH-VPTS I4 16v DOHC VVT Twin Turbo CRD {129kW}

MAZDA CX-5 Auto KF KF4W2 05/2018~ 4 Door SUV AWD DIESEL 2.2 litre, SH-VPTR I4 16v DOHC VVT Twin Turbo CRD {140kW}
I'd take the cowling off but I don't know how to do that - where are the clips or screws?

Based on the comments in the supercheap site, it seems to suggest that the 140kW unit didn't come out till 5/2018 and mine was first registered 3/2018. However my manual shows the compression ratio to be 14.4:1, which the new brochure shows to be the 140kW motor whereas the 129 kW motor was 14:0:1 so I remain confused.

Removing the cowling was easier than I thought. Here's a photo of the motor. Which motor do I have?

From what I've been told, you have the newer / updated engine.

I can tell by the injectors, & by the turbo intake pipe being aluminium v's the older style rubber & plastic.

Hi grim_reaper,

thanks for the feedback. That's what I was hoping, but you said you reached this conclusion from what you've been told. What's your level of confidence? Is there still some doubt?
