Smile Key Fob

Hi,
My key fob came with a Panasonic CR2025 battery, when i replace this for a Phillips, Duracell or another brand, the key fob don't work.
Do anyone have the same problem or know something about this.
Thanks

t should not depend on the battery brand, any new CR2025 should work. I used an Energizer CR2025 and it worked fine.

There have been some reports on JeepGarage that some 2032 batteries aren't as thick as others and can cause failure of the fob. That could be the problem here.

The OP isn't using a 2032, he's using a 2025.

CR2032 and CR2025 batteries are the same size in diameter but the 2032's are a little thicker and have a longer life span (all things being equal) and a slightly higher current rating.

As was stated, any brand of CR2025 will work in our fobs. If the OP inserted a new CR2025 correctly, and it didn't work, it's possible that the new battery is bad. Unlikely, but possible.

Jóakim, do you have a multimeter to test the batteries with? If so, a new battery should read ~3.3 vdc.

You missed my point that if some manufacturers are making 2032's that are too thin, they might be doing the same with 2025's.

Hi Conrad,

Yes i measure the battery and read 3.3 Vdc.
I also try 3 new battery's, 1 from Duracell, and 2 from Philips, all with different lots .
So if 1 battery is bad it's suppose to work with the other ones, or i have really bad luck and all of them are bad.

Hi schmieg,

I check the original battery on the key fob and all the measures are the same in that ones i'm try to use. They are not thinner

No, I didn't miss your point but you didn't present it very well.

All batteries of the same type are going to be EXTREAMLY close to the same dimensions. Plus or minus a VERY small margin of tolerance. The spring contacts in the fob will more than make up for any variance in the thickness of batteries of the same type.

Strange. If they're all reading 3.3vdc then it looks as if they're all good. Of course, that 3.3v isn't under a load but it's a very good indication that they are good.

Is your second fob working?
