Default Lliftgate opening

2019 gt Reserve. I am unable to open the rear liftgate by pressing the button on the car even if I have a remote in my pocket, lights just flash once. Pressing the trunk release on the transmitter, lights flash twice and trunk opens. Is there a setting or childproof switch I have to change or must I unlock the car first before the liftgate button will work ? Thanks

Is your gear in Park and engine turned off when you press the button? If yes and it is not functioning, I would take it to the dealer and have a look at it.

I find that you have to press that button for quite some time before the liftgate actuates. Around 2 -3 seconds. Just quickly pressing the button won't do it. Hope this helps.

Sometimes it's the simplest things and it doesn't help when your kind of stupid. My previous car had one button which opened the lift gate. Never realized I had been pushing the lock button instead of lifting the handle. Strange that the lift gate button only locks the car and does not function like the door lock button. Lift gate functions as it's supposed to.
