Soon the dealers are going to come up with a 100k service that changes all fluids and a bunch of other things. It will cost so much you will be required to give them the car.

Our owners manual says 7500 miles or 6 months -- whichever comes first. My wife's CX-5 is 3 years old w/ 16k miles. If we had strictly followed the 6 month rule, they could have almost used her oil in another car.

Just had the car in today, and I (probably stupidly) agreed to have the dealer do a "fuel induction service" for about $125. $93 for labor and $47 for parts -- before discounts. Almost seemed like the old STP in the gas scam. Anyone heard of this?

Fuel induction service is a standard scam performed by a huge number of dealerships around the country. If you feel like messing with them, ask them to show you in a published Mazda document or Service Bulletin where such a service is recommended. Assuming they cannot (and I'm betting they can't), ask them to put in writing the need for such a service and then forward it on to Mazda corporate.
