Default Mazdas are great!

I'm also thinking about upgrading my NA Miata to a new RF but may opt to just do performance mods on it instead.

You are obviously a "car guy". I used to do a lot of mods to my cars over the years, but now very little. IMHO, they make cars with lots of stuff now. I try to pick the right one for reliability, gas mileage, and "fun to drive". About the Miata, I've had 3 Miatas (2002 conv, 2017 RF GT & 2019 RF GT). I would definitely go for the RF GT, but that's just me.

Thanks, Tim for your reply

I'm guessing you're a "car guy". Me too! I used to do numerous mods on my cars over the years, but now IMHO the new cars have lots of options. I just find the combo that I like, concerning reliability, features, and "fun to drive".

Concerning your Miata, I've had 3 of them since 2002. (2002 conv, 2017 RF GT & 2019 RF GT). If I were making the decision, I would choose an RF GT.

Thanks for the nice reply,

Indeed I am! First car I owned was a 1971 Road Runner and I went to community college for (at the time) my own use. Little did I know I'd start a career as a mechanic in 1985. Thirty-six Years later I retired at 59 so it's time to enjoy life and not live so frugally anymore.

My first Mazda was a 1984 GLC which I promptly put on a performance exhaust and eventually dual side draft webers. A fun little autocross machine especially with soft compound tires.

I concur on the RF in GT trim. Although my experience with the tops on Cadillac XLRs does make me a bit gun shy about power tops! (In all fairness they were getting a bit long in the tooth by then and had a lot of other problematic areas.)

Those were the days! I special ordered a 1970 tor red Plymouth Duster with a factory 4-speed manual with Hurst shifter. A couple of years later, I went to a junkyard and swapped out the front grill for a 71 grill, just because it looked a lot better. (easy swap) About power tops, it's a Mazda. The reason I like the GT is because of all of the electronics that are on the car. I just traded in my 2017 Miata RF GT for the 2021 CX-5 Signature AWD. It was 4 1/2 years old with 45K miles. I had zero problems with the car. Since I'm a car guy, I always kept it waxed & oil changed. It looked and ran like new. I paid $35K for it new & got $25K on trade (4 1/2 year old car - Mazda dealer). . .Good luck with your decision.
