I guess it all depends on where you live.
It rarely gets hot enough here to use the AC which I'm not a fan of anyway.
If fact we normally run the heat for more than half the year.
A moonroof is just the ticket for me and I keep it open as often as I can.
But then the air is pretty clean here and I don't normally drive in any traffic.
Never have any issues except the occasional bird turd.

I guess you wear a hat when you drive with your sunroof open in your city? LOL

If you use your sunroof even occasionally then you should do a service cleaning periodically and most assuredly before change of seasons. If you don't open your sunroof then you are highly unlikely to clog the drain ports and hoses!
IN some vehicle's the drain hose can become detached in the headliner area, this has happened to several vehicles over a few decades mostly caused by improper cleaning servicing.
I read all the posts Callisto - even your snarky ones... The Audi Q7 was known for the issue I had and with its huge panoramic sunroof had issues with the drain tubes coming apart. They were very long, intricate runs on that car. We rarely opened the roof and it was always garaged so it was not exposed to lots of debris like many cars are. My cars are kept in immaculate condition so it wasn't lack of care.

well good for you. As I often read you are always the exception to normal things on this forum! You may look at where you drain port is located. And to be sure I never said there was not a problem with Audi routing past the primary drain port now did I. LOL
Oh and this is ...hold on NOT an Audi forum or thread about Audi's but MAZDA's. LOL And where are all the drain ports on newer MAZDAS... yup when the sunroof is closed they are seal from the environment. lol Really dude you are a funny guy don't take me wrong. I really enjoy your responses on threads I participate on.

Always do, but more so to keep from frying my bald head than errant bird droppings.

I like the sunroofs. The one in my CX-5 is small compared to my Forester. But the Mazda's open and tilt and the Sub can't do that. I had an 88 323 GT and I used the sunroof tilted way more than I used it open. Just enough ventilation to keep the car cool without messing up everybody's hair.

Conrad.... Yup as an Military brat I had to have the crew cut. Hated it. So as a teenager I did the rebellious thing and grew my hair. Sorta hated it because I was rcaing motorcycles (short Track,& Motor-x ) and it was always a task to tuck it into the helmet. Then going into the working sector to be professional during that time period it was back to clean cut hair. Then when I started to open my own business, the hair grew out again but only to the shoulders. In the Automotive Performance world this was acceptable and actually the men's fashion for the time. Then I moved to Santa Cruz CA. And this time the hair went all the way down below mid back. Wore it in a ponytail most of the time. This was better part of 10 years. And once again life prevailed met my wife, she has long beautiful pacific island girl hair. However not as long as mine. She said I had a choice, either I cut my hair clean cut and tidy or she would cut her hair short. So here I am 12 years into the marriage, hair is still clean cut and tidy. The good thing is she cuts my hair, so I have saved $2880.00 plus tips in not having to pay to get my hair cut. The sad thing is life is life and now there seems to be a semi less dense area on the top back of my head where hair use to grow like grass??? LOL

This is a picture I posted in my Performance Auto Parts shop vintage well I am sure that some can figure it out.?

Mine was pretty long as well back when I was in my band days.
Heredity, responsibility of married life and the birth of my son put an end to my hair and the band.
But I did have some wicked Billy Idol spikes for a few years before they ended up in my motorcycle helmet(s) as well.
Been buzzing what little is on the sides of my own head for many moons now.
So far only the $25 cost of the Wahl clippers that are about 30 years old now.
My hair did decide to sprout in places like my ears and nose but not sure how that would look in ponytail...
