I turned it off in my 19 Mazda3. I found it would push me towards the middle of the lane when I wanted to drive closer to the line. If there is a big truck in the center lane, and I am in the left lane, I like to drive a little further from the truck and the Mazda was happier when I was closer to the truck.

I laughed at this, but it is very true.

30 years ago you had to adjust the valves. Luckily they don’t need to be adjusted. If they did, the equipment needed would likely cost more than a lifetime of Mazdas.

Once you open the hood on a modern car, there isn't much in there you can do.

I was actually getting ready to post a thread about this. I've had my CX5 for almost 2 months now and that is one thing I've been wondering about. The LKA on my 2018 Sonata kept me in the lane. The 2021 CX5 GT seems to do...nothing besides flash an icon if I drift over the line.

My 2021 CX-5 GT does nothing except provide an alert - and that only happens about 40% of the time. The alert comes so late that there would be not time to correct anyway. I refer to it as the "Time to call 9-1-1" alert.

Yeah. I wonder if it's actually *capable* of moving the wheel to keep you centered in the lane? Perhaps it could be improved by a software update? I don't expect it to drive itself but sheesh it is completely useless compared to how my Sonata was. That's one of my few disappointments in the car.

Sometimes I can cause mine to slightly steer back from crossing a lane, but it's very slight and after I've crossed the lane. This is the biggest disappointment but the rest of the CX-5 GT-R experience has been great.

I think the lawyers got into the feature design, if customers know it doesn't work they can't sue us for an accident.

I am appreciative it ISN'T more aggressive. On my '16 RDX is was very annoying. My wife liked it, but when I drove the car I deactivated it. I like to be in control of the car when I drive and I felt like it was fighting me all the time. The emergency braking had a couple of hick ups in the Acura too, it would sometimes activate when a car was turning into a street to the right side. I had plenty of room to go around them, but it would stab the brakes sometimes and I would be thinking, what just happened??? I am not a fan of these new "safety" systems in general. The only one I really like is blind spot monitoring.

A good design would allow the driver to easily select the sensitivity of features like that, if my wife wants strong LKA she could choose that, when I don't i could choose that.
